A splendid Victorian Era side saddle whip with sterling silver collar and cap. The cap also has a small attached loop. Between the cap and collar is a rich brown leather covering. The rest of the shaft is covered in fine braided linen or hemp. The collar has been monogrammed with 3 letters that I read as “CCH”. The cap bears crisp marks for English silver and the year 1899.

English; sterling silver is marked for .925 as denoted by as denoted by the Lion Passant; Assay town of Birmingham as denoted by the Anchor mark, date letter “z” for 1899, and the maker’s mark is MP.

Measurments; 30 1/4" long

Condition report; dings in both collar and cap in accordance with age and use. Some rubbing on the braiding with one area a bit more, these areas can be lacquered to stop the fraying. Leather hands shows normal age cracking. No leather is loose or torn.
