An antique French wood and gilt ormolu frame with Empire motifs. Crossed torch and quiver with arrows defines the top of the frame giving way to swags and flowers that surround the edges of the rectangular frame. Rich dark stained wood is a perfect foil for the brilliant gilt ormolu.
French, Circa 1880
Measurements; 6 ½" X 5 ½"; Inside dimensions 4" X 4"
Condition; very good, one small separation in garland, which is barely noticeable; I only discovered it when I felt the trim to check for missing pins; ever so slight wiggle. Minor scratches to surface of wood and one or two small pin missing from trim. The back easel I feel is a recent replacement; however it blends beautifully and provides support for future use.
