An assembled set of antique French sterling silver for a liquor or Vodka service. The set is comprised of decanter, six cups, and a rectangular tray. They all have a different pattern but make for an appealing set. Often these liquor sets were comprised of cups with a matching decanter, or the liquor/vodka cups came with a tray. It is difficult to find the three pieces together in a set. All together now they are ready for your entertaining and make a nice addition to a bar-ware collection.
The sterling silver and crystal decanter has clean lines with a stylized leaf decoration circling the decanter and stopper. The six sterling silver with gilt wash cups have flaming torch and quiver motifs along with floral accents. The rectangular tray is silver plated with guilloche work along with a medallion in the center.
The decanter bears the punch for French sterling silver of .950 quality as denoted by the Minerve 1 st Titre Mark and the makers punch for Charles Barrier 7 Rue
The six sterling silver cups with vermeil (or gilt wash) bear the punch for .950 sterling silver or the French Minerva 1st Titre.
The makers punch bears the initials EB. The symbol which is one key to identifying the maker is difficult to decipher and will require more research.
The tray has a mark consisting of the initials “K.&.Cie” plus cross and a star, the mark for Kahn & Compagnie, master silversmiths in Paris during the late 19th to early 20th century. It is also marked with “1er Titre”, which indicated the highest quality of silver plating.
