This outstanding eapg bread plate or platter, was made by Adams and Co., circa 1880. The name of the pattern is called "Actress", aka "Opera". This beautiful Victorian glass bread plate features a very detailed portrait of "Miss Neilson" - a popular stage performer of the 1800's - Lillian Adelaide Neilson, born 1850 - died 1880. Around Miss Neilsons portrait are the words "Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread". Measures 12 3/4 inches x 9 inches, and is in fabulous condition - appears to have never been used! Do expect the usual characteristics of Victorian era glass, ie. tiny bubbles, bits of ash, annealing lines, etc. This old glass glows yellow-green under uv light to further verify age! Quite an amazing, and historical piece of Victorian pattern glass!
