This is an incredibly scarce, large covered sugar bowl made by the Heisey Glass company, circa 1896 -1899. This eapg pattern is Heisey #1200, aka "Cut Block", aka "Square in diamond point". 'Cut Block' and 'Fandango' were the first two patterns ever produced by the Heisey glass company. Neither of these first two patterns were marked with the "Diamond H" logo, since it was not used until 1901. This exceptional Heisey piece is in remarkable condition for its age; the high-quality, crystal clear glass is shiny and bright, with hardly a scratch from use! There is some roughness, though, mostly around the very outer edge of the lid, and on the lower portion of the block pattern near the base - this is barely noticeable unless you actually feel these edges for roughness! A real BEAUTY! This fabulous covered sugar measures 6 3/4 inches tall x 3 3/4 inches across the top opening of the bowl and glows a strong yellow-green under uv light to further verify age. This amazing antique sugar bowl is a dreamy treasure for any Heisey glass collector!
