This outstanding antique, eapg oval celery, or pickle dish, was made by The Iowa City Flint Glass Manufacturing Co., circa *1881 - 1882. This amazing detailed pattern is called "Frosted Stork", or "Stork" and is quite rare, since the Iowa City glass company was only in business for a very short period of time! The Stork pattern is usually found 'frosted', this bowl is not, making it even more scarce. The exquisite, very detailed pattern on the bottom of this bowl features a gorgeous outdoor scene depicting two long-legged Stork like birds among plants, flowers and Palm trees! The details are amazing! This clear oval pickle dish measures 9 1/2 inches long x 2 inches tall. It is in good condition with some roughness around the inner, underneath portion of the base, and also, minor roughness and a tiny flake, or two, around the outside top rim. Nothing at all that detracts from the beauty of this marvelous piece! This antique glass glows a soft yellow-green under uv light to further verify age! *I also have a frosted spooner in this pattern, if you are interested in both pieces at a discount.
