This outstanding antique, eapg spooner was made by The Iowa City Flint Glass Manufacturing Co., circa *1881 - 1882. This amazing detailed pattern is called "Frosted Stork" and is quite rare, since the Iowa City glass company was only in business for a very short period of time! This exquisite frosted glass pattern features 3 different scenes depicting a long-legged Stork among plants and flowers. The details are amazing, and the frosted glass is stunning! This spooner measures nearly 5 1/2 inches tall x 3 7/8 inches across the gorgeous, detailed top rim. This spooner is in Very Good - Excellent condition, with no chips to the top rim, no cloudiness, and the frosted pattern is near perfect! There is a 1/4 inch shallow chip/flake on the underside of the foot, and a bit of expected roughness there, as well, also one very tiny chip on the underside of the bowl of this spooner... Both hard to detect, and insignificant, considering the rarity of this piece. Priced accordingly! This is such a very special piece of Victorian pattern glass history to cherish! A very special treasure to own!
*The Iowa City glass factory was in operation beginning in early summer 1881 for a period of only 15 months before the plant was closed due to financial reasons.
