This is an Exquisite antique, Victorian art glass, 'canary' (vaseline glass) punch, or lemonade cup, with an applied amber glass handle, and a smoothly ground, fire -polished rim and pontil. This popular Victorian 'Thumbprint' art glass design was made by several well-known glass makers during the 1880's, including Hobbs Brockunier & Co., and Phoenix Consolidated Glass Co. Originally called "Polka Dot", or "Spot Optic" - this art glass pattern is now commonly referred to as: 'Inverted Thumbprint', or " Baby Thumbprint". Made from a mold-blown 2-step process in which the raised dots are on the inside of the glass and the exterior is smooth. In Excellent condition, surprisingly there are no chips or flakes to speak of around the top rim - at most, very minor insignificant roughness in a couple spots. Quite amazing for delicate mold-blown art glass, circa 1880's! The glass is crystal clear and bright! Measures 2 1/4 inches high X 3 inches across the top rim. This cup exhibits a very strong, bright yellow-green color under uv blacklight to further verify age! These small Victorian punch cups make a stunning collection to display in their dazzling array of patterns and colors!
