This antique figural inkwell, or ink stand, is made of a cast metal - either bronze, or copper plated ( a magnet does stick! ), with a deep copper colored finish and a VeRy Unique design, Circa 1900 - 1915. This unusual antiQue metalware figural inkwell represents the head of a woman wearing a bonnet that is tied under the chin. The tray is in the shape of a four-leaf clover. The girl's head swivels open to reveal the brass, or copper, ink insert. Thud fabulous inkstand sits on four raised 'feet' and measures 7 inches diagonally X 1 3/4 inches high. In very good condition with a gOrGeOuS patina! Marked with the casting numbers '3437' on the bottom - but no manufacturers markings found. Listed in two reference books (Jean and Frank Hunting, Weldon Badders) and values in those books @ $300. This is quite a remarkable, and rare 'find' for your inkwell collection!
