This Victorian, antique custard Glass "Punty Band" pattern, Souvenir toothpick holder was made by Heisey Glass Co., circa 1896. A simple, and quite popular, antique Heisey glass pattern - One of their earliest - 'Punty Band' consists of a row of small oval 'punties', or thumbprints, around the base, with tiny 'notched' rows above, and below the punty band. This creamy 'custard' glass is quite weighty, shiny and smooth, with a slightly flared, scalloped top, and marked with the Heisey 'Diamond H' logo on the interior bottom! Heisey called this creamy green-tinted ivory colored custard glass "Ivorina Verde". (It Glows Very bright yellow-green under uv black light!) This toothpick holder is hand-painted with a charming, winding red rose bud and leaf decor and red souvenir script lettering that reads: "Souvenir, Carterville, Ill". This beauty measures 2 1/8 inches tall X 2 3/8 inches across the scalloped top rim X 2 1/2 inches wide across the mid-section with punty band X 1 3/4 inches across the ring base with impressed star pattern. In Excellent Condition with no chips or cracks, some minor wear to the hand painted decor and just a tiny bit of gold trim remaining between the scallops on the top rim.
