This very sWeeT antiQue Victorian art glass salt / pepper shaker set was made by Gillinder & Sons Glass, circa 1898. These petite antiQue milk glass Victorian shakers were called "Pearls and Shells" in Lechner's book "Salt Shakers" Vol 2. Later found and identified in an 1898 Gillinder "Opal Novelties" catalog. This mold-blown opaque glass pattern consists of pretty embossed shell shapes and scrolls making up the entire footed base, with delicate hand-painted floral decoration on the front and back of both shakers. Each creamy white opal glass shaker measures 2 1/2 inches tall X 2 1/2 inches across widest point. In Very good condition with most painted floral décor intact! The 'nutmeg' paint on footed base is mostly gone though. The original pewter / metal lids are in Good condition, though showing some wear / pitting consistent with age. An Outstanding and Scarce Victorian shaker set to ENJOY! *The top rim beneath the lids is somewhat rough - a Normal condition for ALL Victorian mold blown glass shakers, since this is where they were snapped off the pontil rod when finished.
