This SenSational antiQue glass covered butter dish was made by Tarentum Glass Co, circa 1906. This terrific eapg Pattern is called `Frost Crystal' or `Peerless`. A seldom-seen Tarentum pattern, and One of the prettiest I've found! This extraordinary antiQue pattern glass domed butter dish is encircled with six large, deeply beveled and notched divided sections - each section having a thumbprint with `snowflake' star and fan details in each corner. The round dome lid has a beveled finial knob with starburst design on the very top. The bottom plate has the same snowflake pattern with a curvy, scalloped edge all around and a fancy starburst design on the bottom! This Very elaborate Tarentum Glass butter dish also has tons of shiny gold highlights around the plate edge and bottom edge of the domed lid! This gorgeous crystal clear glass REALLY catches the light and SparKles like mad, making it Very difficult to photograph accurately! It is a good-sized, and heavy glass dish - some also call these domed plates a covered 'cheese' plate. Measures over 5 inches tall to the finial lid X 8 inches across the bottom plate. In Very Good condition with lots of shiny gold trim remaining! There are some small chips on the inside, inner rim of the plate ( this rim in the middle of the plate holds the lid in place) which cannot be seen when the lid is on, and really do not detract from the MagNificenCe of this piece at all! Not unusual for a 100 year-old piece - Shown in the photos and priced FAR below actual value to reflect these minor, and mostly unseen flaws. A GrEaT buy for you! Glows yellow-green under uv blacklight to further verify age! This antiQue covered butter will be DaZZliNg on your table!
