This is a fantastic antiQue, Northwood art Glass Decorated Opal, or milk glass, Covered Sugar bowl with an acorn finial lid. This Very detailed, and VERY Victorian, eapg milk glass pattern is called `Netted Oak', or sometimes, 'Acorn', and was produced by Northwood Glass Co. from 1895-1905. Each of the four rounded sides of this covered sugar bowl has a raised 'oak leaf and acorn' detailed pattern on a netted, lattice design background. This creamy white milk glass pattern is highlighted with soft pastel colors and gold (nutmeg) paint - with most still remaining after all these years! This Outstanding, and unusual, antique sugar bowl measures 6 inches high with lid X 4 inches wide. In Excellent condition with No chips or cracks - WOW! Some expected wear to the painted highlights (as seen on the finial, in photo), consistent with age - and, minor roughness around the edges of lid and rim - quite common, and present since the manufacture process! Northwood `Netted Oak' pieces are hard to find, Especially in opal glass, and the sugar bowl is scarcely found with the lid intact!
