This outstanding opaque 'Wave Crest' Victorian art glass salt, or pepper shaker was decorated by the C.F. Monroe Co, circa 1898 -1904. Since C.F. Monroe did not manufacture their own Glassware - most was supplied by the Mount Washington / Pairpoint Company, and then hand-decorated at the Monroe factory. This high quality, mold blown, white satin glass shaker pattern is called “Scroll & Leaf Hexagon" and the hand painted decoration is referred to as ‘Wavecrest’. This is a six-sided opal ware ( milk glass ) shaker with a gOrGeOuS, elaborately embossed scroll design all around the lower portion! Three of the six panels are hand enameled with the pretty pastel ‘Wave crest’ floral motif. Measures 3 1/4 inches tall with the lid on. In Amazing, Excellent condition! A tiny bit rough around the rim under the lid where the shaker was snapped off of the pontil rod - this is a proper condition for these antique mold blown shakers - a sign that they are truly antique! ~ A Wonderful, Scarce Victorian Mt. Washington Glass shaker! This shaker is Shown on Pg. 96 of Lechner‘s "World Of Salt Shakers" Vol. 3.
