This antique Victorian art glass salt shaker was made by Gillinder and Sons, Philadelphia, PA from 1891 - 1897. A mold blown shaker in opaque, satinized glass. Silky smooth satin finish milk glass, with a delicate hand-painted vining floral design in soft muted tones, on a pale blue background. The pattern consists of six vertical lobed ribs and is 2 7/8 inches tall. Gillinder called this Victorian glass pattern "melon". It is in excellent condition - with some wear to the hand-painted decor. The lid is bright and shiny - probably newer. Some roughness under the lid is normal for these Victorian shakers - where they were snapped off the glass blowers rod. A gorgeous antiQue shaker from a quality Victorian era glass-maker!
