Early 20th Century Shakudo BroochEarly 20th Century Shakudo Brooch

Offered for your consideration is an absolutely gorgeous Shakudo Brooch. It is 1 1/4" square and weighs 14.2 grams. It has a 'T' bar and 'C' clasp that helps to date the piece. It is in pristine condition, although I do notice a little loss of detail under fine magnification. The expert quality of the detail also factors into its date. It is a recent find from England.

Shakudo is the Japanese art of mixed metal detailing. It was initially used in swords, but as the need for sword work flagged it became a media for jewelry and other artifacts. Shakudo is a mix of Gold and Copper and is embellished with icons of Nature in Gold Silver and Copper. This brooch has a Bird perched in a Tree with sparse delicate leaves and is in a twisted rope surround.

Unique substantial with delicate detail and classic motif, a special piece for your jewelry collection.
