This watch was most probably for a woman. It has five Diamonds and is the popular Moon and Star motif. It is 1 1/4" in diameter and weighs 34.5 grams. This great piece was most probably made in the late 1890's. It runs and is in very fine estate condition with minor dings on the side as would occur in wearing. I have had the best time researching the maker. Simon Silverthau moved to New Haven, CT in 1850. I can find information about their store and their philanthropy through the late 1890's. The watch is marked 15 Jewels and has the name of the store on the inside but I do not see that this watch bears another makers name. So we have to assume that they made it. It does bear a registration number 12099643. The Diamonds are natural and bright and total 0.25 CT. And the case is warranted to be 14K gold. Any other information about the watch would be greatly appreciated.
