This Victorian era Pendant is bold and dynamic. It is 3 Garnet carbuncles in a trefoil pattern centered with 3 Rose cut Diamonds. The Pendant is 1 1/4" without the bale by 1" and weighs 9.6 grams.
Each large glistening carbuncle is 5/8" by 3/8". Carbuncle is meant to signify "burning coals" and was a popular cut in the Victorian era. I first learned about them when I visited the Victoria and Albert museum. On the second flower is a large space with the history of jewelry. I saw there a brooch that was massive and gorgeous and was able to get two smaller versions that are listed on my site.
When I came across this lovely Pendant I had to have it.
In excellent estate condition and certainly unique enough and bold enough to catch the eye. From an English auction site.
