This is a very rare and hard to find pin by Boucher. It is pictured in Roberto Brunialti's book "American Costume Jewelry 1935-1950" and is called by Brunialti the "Jack to Martha" brooch because of the dedication engraved on the back of the one pictured in the book. I don't know what kind of bird it is but it is certainly stunning!
It is rhodium plated metal and covered in Boucher's wonderful enameling (as only he could do!) and accented with crystal rhinestones. There is a very small bit of enamel wear on the beak and some of the rhinestones are starting to darken with age. It is a truly fabulous pin.
It measures almost 6" tall and is 2" wide. It is signed on the back with Boucher's earliest signature, MB with the Phrygian Cap.
