A vintage Maddux of California company porcelain flamingos planter vase. William Maddux produced ceramic flamingo statues, planters, and vases between 1938 and 1976 in the Los Angeles area. This creation is made with a white porcelain base that has beautiful glazed tones in white, green, black, and pink. There are flamingos at each end of the planter which have long bent necks of white and pink glaze as well as black for the eyes, beak, and part of the feathers. Surrounding the flamingo's are beautiful green glazed tall grass which symbolize the kind of environment that this bird inhabits. This planter is perfect for holding flowers having a hollowed out center and the entire piece measures 5" long by 6 1/2" wide and 2" thick. The bottom is signed "Maddux of Calif" and it is in excellent condition with no chips or noticeable crazing. A great gift for flamingo collectors.
