A very unique piece of Harker pottery made in the 1940s. This unique piece was made by the Harker company which was established in 1840. Harker set out to make pottery pieces that were tangible and available to people of any and every class and this is truly that kind of piece. It has a very simple yet elegant quality which rivals some of the most prized high end pieces of glass, pottery, and porcelain. This piece is a nice milk jug that has a nice off white base which is decorated in a nice floral motif that has a crane, large sun, and lamp that has a very unique Asian symbolism to it. The top is lined with gold tone flakes as well as the handle. The bottom is signed "Harker 1840" with the famous bow and arrow hallmark known to Harker pottery. The jug measures 7 1/2" long by 8 1/2" wide and 6 1/2" thick. It has a small chip towards the bottom but nothing to detrimental to the overall appearance of the jug. A fabulous Harker 1940s floral pattern pottery jug.
