A very unique item that mixes music and beer. This lovely old piece is one great beer mug called a stein or tankard. It is made up of a nice pewter metal top which has a handle you would pull back to get to the beverage inside. The tankard is made up of a fine pottery that makes this fabulous ornate design with floral patterns in white, red, and deep blue glaze surrounding tiny Swiss cottages. The center depicts the town of Frieburg which has tiny red roofed houses and one large center building backed by green hills. The center section is signed "Frieburg im Breisgau Munster". The bottom of this piece has the music box signed "Thorens Movement Schwedenmadel Made in Switzerland". The box has a gold tone metal winding arm which winds up to play the song and there is a gold tone metal pull knob as well that can be pulled out or pushed in to start and stop the song. This stein measures 8 1/2" long by 3 1/4" wide and 3 1/4" thick. It has no chips or wear and was made between 1940 and the mid 1950s. A tremendous old Swiss stein and Thorens music box.
