A vintage Taxco sterling silver and abalone shell inlay brooch and pendant. This item is composed of a sterling silver base metal which forms this flower shaped design. The metal shoots out like flower petals which are accented by abalone shell inlay that has a beautiful iridescent color scheme with swirling tones of blue, purple, brown, and green mixed together. The back of this brooch has a pin and locking "C" clasp as well as a pendant bail allowing it to be worn as the centerpiece to a necklace. The backside is also signed "Sterling Taxco 925 MR" There is also a five sided plaque with a "3" inside of it. This signature is for Melecio Rodriguez who was a silversmith/designer for Taxco around the 1940s to the 1960s. This piece measures 1 5/8" in diameter and other than a bit of wear and scratching on the back of the pin this item is in good overall condition.
