A timeless piece of Hattie Carnegie jewelry from her early years as a designer. This item is so unique being made up of a nice silver metal foundation to form this amazing lantern fur clip. This fur clip is made with a top section of silver metal followed by the light on the lantern with two gemstones on the sides as small windows which just shows the time and intricate craftsmanship that went into the item. The light is made up of a large cut blue topaz colored glass gem that looks perfect and the sides of the lantern are made up of two clear large baguette cut gems that look amazing and are prong set within the foundation. The bottom of the clip has a strip of silver metal which would be the place for holding the object. The back of the piece has a strong fur clip which holds well with it's two prongs and the signature "H.C." are within a diamond shaped cartouche in between the prongs. This is Hattie Carnegie's oldest mark and having this signature would date the piece around the late 1930s to the mid 1940s according to Georgiana McCall (2005), author of "Hattie Carnegie Jewelry: Her Life and Legacy. This item measures 3" long by 1 1/4" in width and is in such great condition after all this time having no damage to the silver metal, clip, or the gemstone accents. A fabulous piece of old 1930s to 1940s jewelry.
