A magnificent piece of Hattie Carnegie figural jewelry designed by Kenneth Jay Lane. This is a very unique enamel lion head pin that has a swirling gold tone metal body with poured glass accents and imitation pearl dangles. This pin was crafted between 1955 and 1960 when Kenneth Jay Lane worked for Hattie Carnegie for a period of time. The design is no doubt his as an exact match was made by Kenneth Jay Lane for his own jewelry line. The lion's head is made up of gold tone metal with white enameling over the face and for the mane. The lion's eyes are composed of green glass set in gold tone metal and the entire head looks amazing. The swirling part of the pin has a large mother of pearl stone followed by swirling gold tone metal with white enameling over it. This swirling metal also has rows of red and green glass poured into square shaped settings giving this item a unique quality in appearance. The end of this swirled section also as a round mother of pearl stone that looks gorgeous. Finally there are three imitation pear shaped baroque pearl dangles hanging from the bottom of the pin. The back of this item has a long and sturdy pin with a wonderful and strong clasp closure. There is also the signature "Hattie Carnegie" inside of a small oval cartouche on the back as well. This pin measures 4" long by 2 3/8" wide and is in excellent condition with no wear to the gold toned metal or enameling whatsoever. A beautiful Hattie Carnegie enameled lion's head pin.
