Hattie Carnegie Rare Parrot Pin with thermoplastic and rhinestones. This piece is very rare and hard to find in just any store. It has that well made vintage quality being based in a gold tone brushed metal foundation which has a number of glowing accents. This bird pin is topped with four speckled navy blue colored glass beads which each measure 5.5mm in diameter and are prong set into gold tone metal. The birds head is composed of a green thermoplastic and it's eye is a bezel set large white rhinestone. The bird has a strip of pave set white rhinestones that lead into the long gold tone metal beak. The neck also has three rows of pave set white rhinestones spaced by a gorgeous gold tone brushed metal with a textured quality. At the foot of this pin is the last row of pave set white rhinestones that sit beneath the large navy blue colored thermoplastic body section. Finally the birds tail feathers are composed of two green glass beads that really round out the amazing decorative aspect of this figural bird pin. The back of this item has a pin and locking "C" clasp closure that hold very securely and the signature "Hattie Carnegie" is stamped within an oval cartouche. This pin measures 2 1/4" long by 1 7/8" in width and really is a rare find. It has a unique appeal mixing features of those tropical birds of paradise such as the toucan or parrot and even a little bit of the extinct dodo bird! Whatever you call it there is no denying that the design makes for a great collectible treasure by Hattie Carnegie.
