A thistle border embraces a large, faceted purple stone on this antique kilt pin. The stone is prong-set high for maximum visual impact – the brooch stands ¾” high. At 2-1/2” in diameter, this impressive piece can stand up to the heaviest blazer or coat … or kilt! The piece dates back to the Edwardian era, about 1910. It has an attached ring on the back, so it can be worn as a brooch or a pendant. The piece is made of silver colored metal and weighs 47 grams. The stone has some scratches on one of the facets (see photos), which I’ve taken into account in the pricing, otherwise it is in very good vintage condition.
