Patrick Nagel’s works are icons of the ‘80s. This hard-to-find neon Nagel poster from the Playboy Portfolio II features a bright pink neon light trimming the edge of the wrap covering the model. The poster is framed in simple black wood without glass, of course, because of the neon light. The poster measures 24” by 36”. The neon light is in good working condition (bright and no flickering), and is turned on and off by a pull chain on the bottom. In small type in the bottom right-hand corner, it is marked 1989 Dumas Limited NAGP89.
Overall, the piece is in good condition, and as I mentioned, the neon light works fine. There are some light brown spots, mostly on the woman’s hand (please see the images), which I have taken into account in the pricing. For a poster that is not under glass, it’s held up well.
Little information is available on the neon Nagels, although images of them (I’ve seen about 6 different pieces) can be found on the internet. There’s some speculation that the neon lights were added by an artisan, which makes sense as so few are available and this is not a mass-produced piece.
