This sweet mother of pearl locket dates back to the late Victorian era to the early 20th century. The heart is embellished with a lovely prong set purple stone in a sunburst setting. The heart shaped locket hangs from a gold filled chain that is marked B&N 1/20 12K, followed by some less-legible lettering. The locket itself is unmarked. B&N is one of the marks for Bugbee & Niles Co., which manufactured jewelry in Providence, RI, from the late 1800s to the 1940s – early ‘50s. The locket is just shy of 1” (7/8”); the chain is 18”. Condition is excellent.
