This beautiful brooch has the characteristics of Art Nouveau jewelry: curvilinear design and a lovely leaf pattern taken from nature. The brooch is punctuated by five dangling tear-drop shaped glass pearls (faux pearls) that are lustrous champagne in color. The brooch is fairly sizable, measuring 2-3/4” wide by about 2” high. There is no makers mark, but several of the leaves are marked with a patent number that dates to 1929-31. This puts it just past the era formally defined as Art Nouveau, but the design was certainly influenced by jewelry of the era. The brooch is in very good condition overall, with the exception of some small scratches on the glass (faux) pearls.
