This beautiful sterling ring is a lovely example of American craftsmanship during the Arts and Craft era, which flourished in the first decades of the 20th century. Note the flower and foliate border, which is quite well executed and intricate and extends over the top and bottom on the stone. The translucent chrysoprase cabochon is especially beautiful and luminous, and has that wonderful inner glow that is so desired.
The ring has a spit shank and is marked sterling on the outside of the band, not inside as is customary. It is size 5-1/2, and is in excellent condition. The ring is approximately 1 inch top to bottom.
This design of the ring and choice of materials is very reminiscent of the work of English Arts and Craft master jeweler Instone, but is unsigned other than the sterling mark.
