The abstract shape of this sterling silver brooch is a classic example of Modernist jewelry being created by artisans in Mexico in the 1950s – `60s. The design flows beautifully, and has a gentle sense of movement to it. The lovely amethyst is bezel set; note how the silver beneath the cabochon has two little "tails," a detail a lesser designer may not have considered.
The brooch has a hidden bail on the back so it may be worn as a pendant. The piece is marked RB Mexico 925 Taxco GRO in a circular pattern, and has the eagle stamp with the #3 and initials, possibly MM. Size is approximately 2" by 2".
The brooch is in excellent vintage condition.
