"Leopold" is the longtime companion of "Edna Wallace Hopper" - the Simon-Halbig flapper 1159 also listed in this shop. My antique expert who is abroad right now had said after inspecting him (with his clothes on): Antique. Heinrich Handwerck. 15" Clothing shoes old and appropriate. oHG on neck means made between 1902-1932.
Now that I'm looking at him closely, I'm not seeing that mark on his back. Or am I reading it wrong? After searching the net and guide books for something similar on which to base a price, I don't see any Handwerck dolls with a cloth body. Men are extremely rare as well. Any feedback you can give me as to his maker and value is deeply appreciated. Also, if you think his clothes are hand or factory made, and if his eyes were always set. My price listed is just a guess. Thanks so much!
