This is a great Victorian watch pin and the globular Kingston watch, from the Crawford Watch Corporation. I rarely see these pieces in combination come up at auction. The globular watch is especially charming.
The 1" love knot pin is marked 1/20 10k Gold filled. P.S. Co is engraved on the back of the pin. Most of the gold plating appears intact; there may be losses on the elevated points and angles. The safety clasp, which may be a replacement (I see some solder), does not fully rotate in the closed position; however the pin locks in well. I have given the pin a cursory cleaning; I note a little discoloration in the groves, and especially in the center. Since I am unable to reach the deep grooves of the design, you will want to have this professionally cleaned.
The 7/8" watch is 7 jewels; it has Crawford Watch Corporation embossed on the mechanism. On the face side, it has Kingston printed in black. It is not currently working. The back is covered with a glass bevel to allow one to view the watch works. The face and the back of the watch are joined with an unmarked band of rolled gold metal. I see a little brassing here or there on this band.
The chain linking the pin and the watch is silvertone. The domed glass on the watch exhibits surface scratching, but is still clear to the naked eye.
It is a very nice Victorian piece with the combination of 2 elements; with the union of the 2 pieces, it measures 2 3/4" in length.
