I am offering for your consideration, a one of a kind Victorian brooch or corsage that was handcrafted. I purchased the piece with accompanying provenance, in the form of a note dated 1886. The note is hand written and signed C. Elliott Poor. I have included it in the pictures, for your reading.
The brooch is hand sewn and completed with a pin on the back of the stem. I suppose this piece was white or ecru at one time; it now has aged related yellowing. It appears completely intact, as I see no stray threads or large gaps in the leaves and berries. The dimensions are 2 5/8" x 2 1/8". Note that it is 3 dimensional, with a 3/4" thickness.
I am not an authority on materials that would have been available for hand crafting items during the late 1800's. I am assuming that the corsage is authentic for the period. The corsage and the note were sold together an estate auction.
