Here is an outstanding sterling souvenir spoon featuring a handle which is a complete figure of an Indian brave in native clothes. The detail is truly remarkable. Magnify the image for a full appreciation of the silversmith's work on this native American. The detail is not just on the front but continues on the back with the same clarity. The handle itself would make the spoon a collector's item, but the bowl depicts the Liberty Bell with the same precision. One reads at the bottom of the bowl, "Proclaim Liberty Throughout the Land." One of the pictures shows the word sterling and the maker's mark for Shepard Mfg. Co. of Melrose Highlands, MA, who were silversmiths from 1893-1923. The spoon is just under 6 inches long and very heavy; in fact, the weight is a full one and one-half ounces. It is in outstanding condition and a wonderful work of art.
