There is something very appealing about this pair of scalloped dishes from the Aesthetic Period. 1870-1890. The asymmetrically placed hand fans, the monarch butterflies, the lush blooms in soft tones combine to express the homage to nature characteristic of the period. The varied scallops along the edges, the ridges on each side of the scallops and the additional fan shaped ridges in the center of the dishes give a nice three dimensional effect. The dishes are artist signed on the reverse. each of the pieces is in fine condition-no chips or hairlines. There is wear to the gilding on one of the dishes. The dimensions are 6 1/4 inches each direction.
