This oyster plate has a beautiful shell shape. One end has a 3 dimensional spiral. The basketweave background is in sunset pink. The wells are edged in brown with peach shading and brown markings. There is a striking sea plant in white edged in gilt along the midsection of the plate. The famous glass maker Moser made a glass oyster plate shaped like this one. The plate offered here is porcelain and not glass. The plate is in excellent condition. The plate is 10 1/8 inches the longest way and 7 3/8 inches the other direction. The plate is pictured and discussed on page 128 of the reference book, "Collecting Oyster Plates", by Snyder. On the back of the plate is an impressed number, "922" , as well as a second number, and printed black initials. The oyster plate is in fine condition with no chips, hairlines, or repairs.
