This lovely antique flow blue English oyster plate by the fine English firm of Minton is characterized by blue flower sprays in the wells and large fish dividing the wells. In the center is a beautiful cobalt flower basket. The fish are particularly well done, with all features in sharp relief and in correct proportion. The pattern name for this oyster plate is "Delft", Henry Bourne, a well-known Minton designer, first made this pattern in 1871. The Minton mark and the registry mark are on the back (shown in one of the pictures). The plate is 10.5 inches in diameter. It is in fine condition. This oyster plate is pictured on page 32 of the reference book "Collecting Oyster Plates" by Jeffrey Snyder, where its value is listed as $975-$1075.
