This wonderful red English antique transferware oyster plate was made by Royal Staffordshire Pottery, Burslem, England. This was the firm, Arthur J. Wilkinson, Ltd., which began producing in the 1890's. The particular mark used dates the plate to around 1907. The pattern name is Marguerite, and the colors are splendid reds and pinks. The design is asymmetric--an unusual and striking design. This particular pattern was made in both brown and red, but the red is much more desirable. The diameter is 9.5 inches and the plate is in pristine condition.
