Camden House Antiques
is now SOLDCarl Tielsch Porcelain Manufactory was a well respected continental 19th century maker of oyster plates and other porcelain. His factory was based in Silesia, which at the time was part of Germany. The company was founded in 1845. This plate was made in the late nineteenth century. This is a 5 well oyster plate, with center sauce well and small wells for other shellfish. An original touch is the ribbon designs between the oyster wells and in the center well. The pink body of the plate has fine luster, as do the wells, edged in peach with rosy pink markings. On the back of the plate we see the mark of Carl Tielsch, an eagle over "CT". The oyster plate has no chips, hairlines, or repairs. The diameter is 9 1/8 inches.
