This exquisite antique French Charles Field Haviland/GDM Limoges oyster plate is beautifully hand painted with rosy seaweed. Brushed gilding around the border and accent gilding on the center well add luster. There is an additional finely painted interior border between the edge and the center well. Inside the center ring is the palest pink. Beautiful sprays of seaweed in many shades of rose are placed asymmetrically placed on the plate. The mark on the back is "CFH" over "GDM," the latter trio standing for Gerard, Dufraisseix, and Morel. This mark was used 1882-1890. The decoration combines innovation and color. The diameter is 8.5 inches and the plate is in pristine condition. This is one of the most artistically painted oyster plates ever made by Haviland.
We have complementary oyster plates available by CFH/GDM in case you want a display for a wall, mantel, or shelf.
