Three unique scenes of sailing ships are featured on this 6 well oyster plate. One scene is a fisherman on the ship with bystanders watching from a peninsula. A second scene shows the ship docked with figures on land. The third scene shows a ship with sails down as fishermen tend to the sails. Alternate wells depict large pieces of seaweed in green and plum. This plate has a beautiful color palette - blues and browns in addition to colors in the seaweed. The shells between the wells are highlighted in gilt and there is a handsome turquoise center well. There is minor paint loss from stacking as one would expect. The plate is in excellent condition (no chips, hairlines, or repairs) with a nice luster. The diameter is 9 inches.
