This lovely cobalt and gilt oyster plate is marked "T & V France" for the firm of Tressemann and Vogt. This company made many fine oyster plates and other porcelain in the late nineteenth century. There are five wells for oysters and a stunning center well for sauce. The shading of the intense blues--from sky blue to cobalt-- is especially attractive. This oyster plate would make a fine addition to a blue and white collection. The plate diameter is 8.5 inches; it is in outstanding condition. In addition to the maker's mark on the back, we also learn that this French plate was made for Davis Collamore and Co. on Broadway in New York City.
