This is an antique oyster plate in a most unusual shape. On page 90 of the reference book, "Oyster Plates" by Karsnitz, there is pictured an oyster plate of this design marked Wilhelm & Graef, NY. The oyster plate in the book has the distinctive striped sections separating the wells , in what appear to be the same distinctive colors. The wells of our oyster plate are a stronger pink than the ones in the book Our plate is unmarked on the back except for a raised star. It is 9.75 inches across and 9 inches from top to bottom. Note the raised portion inside the wells, simulating a real oyster shell. The wells are large and the colors are vibrant. The condition is outstanding- An exceptional oyster plate.
