This is a wonderful example of a French Haviland Limoges antique oyster plate in cobalt and white. The lovely cobalt plates are being bought up by collectors and are harder and harder to find. This plate has a diameter of 8.25 inches. The five wells are outlined in an appealing curvilinear style and the center sauce well has a most interesting shape. Gold decorates the border of the plate as well as the boundaries of the wells. The Haviland mark on the back can be found in any good source on Haviland. It was only used between 1888 and 1896 so this plate can be firmly placed within that period. It is in beautiful condition and would make a stunning addition to a collection.
