Union Porcelain Works of Greenpoint, New York, has the distinction of being the first U.S. company to make oyster plates. Their oyster plates came in three shapes: a small shell shape, a larger shell shape, and a round. All of their plates were decorated with applied sea creatures and other features, which, after more than 100 years, retain their freshness and natural beauty. This handsome American round plate has 6 wells and subtle coloration and decoration. Several pictures are shown to illustrate this fine plate. It is in outstanding condition.
