This vivid Haviland Limoges oyster plate dates from 1876-1886, according to the marks. The beautiful claret color sets this French oyster plate apart. Its form is the five well design referred to as the "turkey" form--with the imaginative observer seeing a brown shell forming the turkey head and a trio of brown shells forming the tail. Gilt tracery suggesting seaweed decorates the claret ground. The plate is 8.5 inches in diameter. It is in excellent condition. Sea this oyster plate featured on Pinterest on our board "Oyster Plates" pinned by Ann Underhill.
