This lovely Chinese box in the shape of an octagon is decorated with vivid enamel and a fearsome dragon on top. The box is 4 inches across and just under 4 inches high with the lid on. The mark on the bottom is shown in one of the pictures. Our research shows that the box dates form 1893-1923, when a number of countries simply add the word "foreign" to their marks to meet export requirements. There are no chips or cracks--some loss of gilt.
