Here is a wonderful antique sterling napkin ring made by Shreve, the outstanding San Francisco company whose origins go back to the 1850's. The ring features winged cherub heads on each end with detailed ornamentation in between, There are three cherubs on each side for a total of six. The work is outstanding as would be expected from a company like Shreve. Inside the ring near the edge (see last picure) can be found the word sterling and the name Shreve, partially obliterated through time. The weight of the napkin ring is 65.9 grams or 2.33 ounces. The diameter opening is 2 inches and the width is 2.25 inches. This is a large and impressive napkin ring.
